Tim Hardy - Head of Naval Engineering
Since joining BMT in 1998 Tim Hardy has led a broad portfolio of projects that encompass areas such as submarine concept design and assurance, unmanned vehicle integration and life extension investigations spanning surface and submarine vessels. Tim has also been the driving force behind the development of BMT's successful technology management offering over the last seven years.
A chartered engineer (CEng) and a member of the Institute of Marine Engineering Science and Technology (MIMarEST), Tim is well respected in the industry through his professional community activities and authoring of technical papers at several of the industry's most prestigious events, including the International Naval Engineering Conference (INEC) and Underwater Defence Technology (UDT) conferences.
Since taking the role of Head of Naval Engineering in 2011 Tim acts as the head of profession for the naval engineering staff whilst leading the naval engineering team, who are distributed across four sites in the UK. He is responsible for ensuring the Naval Engineering Department is sized appropriately and capable of meeting our clients’ needs, whilst also responding to the strategic ambitions of BMT Defence Services. Tim also continues to have business development responsibility for a variety of BMT interests including overseas submarine business work streams.
