Whether it’s technical support to update ageing equipment or design for complex capability upgrades, BMT's technical team has a wide range of defence domain experience and have worked on a variety of prestigious naval projects.
These projects include life extension for major platforms such as RFA Argus, capability assessment and upgrade, technical assurance (UK MOD), engineering options development and combat system integration.
In-service design support is the bedrock on which BMT has built our naval engineering reputation. The employment of naval designers on in-service support and design change provides a virtuous circle for career development and the embedding of an understanding required to design future platforms.
UK MOD and overseas navies recognise our deep technical understanding of complex legacy platforms and have awarded BMT multi-million pound contracts for design support of all classes of warships and auxiliaries, delivering critical skills and capabilities to owners, operators and duty holders across all naval platform design disciplines.
BMT's independence and deep technical ability has helped to keep Royal Navy submarines safe, capable and viable for the last 20 years.
We have provided support to submarine project teams as client advisor and customer friend on system technical designs and as independent peer reviewers. BMT has provided similar support to overseas customers, especially for Life Extension. As part of the UK MOD Submarine Support Management Group (SSMG), our SQEP have operational experience and provide technical support across a range of disciplines including:
- propulsion systems
- platform systems
- technical documentation
- combat systems
- safety case production.
